JAWS announces new digital communication manager

We’re excited to announce Andrea Crowley-Hughes as our new digital communication manager.

Andrea is a New Jersey-based writer and media maker with a passion for helping women and underrepresented journalists thrive.

She is a former reporter and managing editor of The Item of Millburn and Short Hills, where she covered the education beat while working to amplify the publication’s social media presence. To further explore an interest in the future of news on digital platforms, she earned an M.A. in Media Studies from The New School in New York City and co-founded The Refresh. She has worked on web and social media promotion projects for non-profits, multimedia artists and youth media organizations.

Andrea has long supported the mission of JAWS and is excited to join a dynamic organization where journalists are empowered to learn, grow and share their experiences. “When women journalists collaborate, we can help each other have fulfilling careers and build diverse news communities,” she said.

JAWS President Sandra Fish said Andrea already has hit the ground running.

“We’re exciting to work with Andrea and welcome her to CAMP in Hot Springs, Ark.,” Fish said. “We’ve got plenty to keep her busy.”
