  • The Daily Flotus: JAWS rockstar Lynn Sweet offers up the daily dish on First Lady Michelle Obama at Politics Daily.
  • Everywomannews: Michele Weldon’s new book is “Everyman News: The Changing American Front Page.” Her blog is intended to be a discussion of the portrayal of women in news, as well as issues relating to women and journalism from content and style to sourcing and images.
  • Feministing: JAWdesses Ann Friedman, Courtney Martin and others contribute to this blog by young women. “We view Feministing as a platform for not only discussion among feminists and allies, but for reaching (rational, not hateful) people who may not agree with every word we write.”
  • Fishnette: Sandra Fish’s random tumblr.
  • Girldrive: Based on the book of the same name co-authored by Jawdess Nona Willis Aronowitz, this site keeps a finger on the pulse of young feminism by spotlighting the opinions and activism of women, blogs and orgs across the country. It also provides commentary on issues and news affecting young women and feminists.
  • Healing Combat Trauma: Lily Casura’s blog focuses on “effective medical, psychological and legal care, and the slant is apolitical.”
  • Incredibly True Confessions: Tish Grier is a very stylish geek.
  • Latina Voices: Stories by or about Latina women in the U.S. Promoting the next generation of Latina writers. Edited by JAWS member Teresa Puente.
  • Devra Hall Levy: A portfolio site.
  • Lynn Sweet: Lynn tracks President Obama, Illinois and all things political on her Sun-Times blog.
  • Media Report to Women: Media Report to Women has been reporting on the interaction between women and media since 1972. JAWS member Sheila Gibbons is the editor of the organization’s quarterly newsletter and is now blogging.
  • Minal Hajratwala: This JAWS member covers India’s diaspora, queer issues,
    and her travels.
  • National Public Radio ombudsman: Alica Shepard responds to and comments on NPR’s news coverage.
  • NewsCat: Rachel Joy Larris parses pop culture and the news from a feminist perspective.
  • Laura Paskus: An Albuquerque-based writer’s portfolio site.
  • Power of the Purse: Fara Warner’s blog (named for her book of the same title) focuses on the economic power of women and their ability to affect change as the world’s largest consumer group. She comments on politics, corporate actions, social movements by and for women, and the need to increase women’s awareness of their economic power.

  • South-Loop Observer: Bonnie McGrath keeps Chicagoans up to date on the South Look at the Chicago Journal.

  • Suitcase Packin’ Mama: Travel writer Cindy Richards passes along travel news, tips and deals while also sharing her personal travel stories.
  • Thoughtful Photography: Photojournalist, Janet Worne, writes about her 27-year career in newspaper photography and photography in general.
  • Traveling Mom: A site for family vaction info edited by Cindy Richards.
  • Water Tells: Lana Straub’s premise is that water is the truth teller in society. We can hide our garbage, we can take long showers, we can pollute the earth, but eventually water will tell our story. Water tells when we use too much, it tells when we pollute it and it tells when we are running out of it. The blog will tell water’s stories from how it deals with people from big cities to rural communities, businesses big to small and regulations across the United States and around the world.
  • Unconventional Wisdom: From politics to plastic surgery, Judy S. Miller says out loud what most of us only think to ourselves and some we wish we had said.
