Crucial Minutiae: A blog about the small things around us everyday. Some pieces might seem minute by themselves, but over time fit together in the larger puzzles of culture and society that are crucial to understand. The young, diverse bloggers of this site comprise Joan Cook scholarship winner Courtney Martin's New York-based writer's group.

Everywomannews: Michele Weldon's new book is "Everyman News: The Changing American Front Page." Her blog is intended to be a discussion of the portrayal of women in news, as well as issues relating to women and journalism from content and style to sourcing and images.

Feministing: JAWdesses Ann Friedman, Courtney Martin and others contribute to this blog by young women. "We view Feministing as a platform for not only discussion among feminists and allies, but for reaching (rational, not hateful) people who may not agree with every word we write."

Glamocracy:JAWS member Linda Kramer, Washington Editor for Glamour magazine, coordinates this political blog for young women; it's written by five women from across the political spectrum.

Healing Combat Trauma: Lily Casura's blog focuses on "effective medical, psychological and legal care, and the slant is apolitical."

Italian woman at the table: Candace Dempsey teaches food writing online at writers.com. Offering exciting road trips and culinary adventures worldwide, this blog has been featured on Martha Stewart Living Radio and Newsweek.com and is hosted by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

NewsCat: Rachel Joy Larris parses pop culture and the news from a feminist perspective.

Ten95: Veronica Miller and five other young journalists "taking on one industry. Stories of their victories, rejections, pet peeves and lessons learned along the way."

Travel Writing: Honduras: Sharon Bloyd-Peshkin launched a blog in January 2008 for a course she is teaching at Columbia College Chicago. "Travel Writing: Honduras" includes writing and photos from Sharon and the nine students in her class. (They are all part of the "neighborhood" you can click on from the main page.)

War Story: Lexington Herald-Leader reporter and blogger Jamie Gumbrecht's blog on covering Iraq.
