Legacy Fund
BUILD THE FUTURE OF JAWS
JAWS is pleased to announce the debut of the JAWS Legacy Fund, a new way to sustain the principles of JAWS leaders and remember their individual lives and contributions through programs that enrich the work of JAWS. All contributions made to JAWS through bequests and in the names of JAWS women will now be funneled through the JAWS Legacy Fund.
JAWS thanks the trustees of the Eileen Shanahan-Kay Mills Fund and the Joan Cook Fund for providing the seed money to launch this new project.
Help it grow by remembering the JAWS Legacy Fund in your will and in funds you raise to honor JAWS members in the future.
Each year the JAWS Board of Directors will designate projects and programs to benefit from the JAWS Legacy Fund. These may include events at JAWS camp—such as speakers, fellowships or videotaping a panel—and programs at other times, such as a journalist-in-residence or a traveling speakers’ panel.
JAWS Legacy Fund activities will explicitly recognize the JAWS members in whose names the gifts were made, for example an Eileen Shanahan-Kay Mills luncheon speaker will be so identified in all materials. All named gifts will be recognized, although every named donor may not be recognized separately every year. All projects underwritten in whole or part by the JAWS Legacy Fund will be marked accordingly—in programs, on video credits, in book acknowledgments and the like. Where possible, names of all honorees of the Legacy Fund will be included.
Contributors are welcome to suggest uses for their gifts, but the Board reserves the right to use the money in ways that it believes best meets the needs of JAWS.
This is an important way to honor the women of JAWS. To donate to the JAWS Legacy Fund, contact Executive Director Becky Day at beckyd@jaws.org or click here.
