			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>VIDA&#8217;s <a href="http://www.vidaweb.org/the-2011-count" target="_blank">annual list </a>of female bylines in literary arts magazines is out and the numbers aren&#8217;t good.</p>
<p>From article authors to book reviewers to authors of books reviewed, women are underrepresented.</p>
<p>The Women&#8217;s Media Center also <a href="http://www.womensmediacenter.com/pages/the-problem" target="_blank">illustrates</a> the issues of inequity in The Status of Women in the U.S. Media  2012, noting that women make up a minority of sources in news reports.</p>
<p>Take a look at these reports and consider what we as JAWS members can do. Good Magazine&#8217;s <a href="http://www.good.is/post/promote-women-use-your-network-to-solve-the-byline-gap/" target="_blank">solution</a> is a place to start: Recommend women you know to people in power in the industry. Do it today.</p>
