JAWS Webinar: The Resilient Press

FREE JAWS WEBINAR MAY 13: Stress is part of the job. Burnout doesn't have to be. In this workshop, you'll learn how and why your body, mind and relationships can shift for better or worse under pressure — and how to navigate this with care. We'll cover the science of stress, how to spot your early warning signs, and how to build a simple daily practice using tools you can use anywhere, in under 60 seconds.

Registration is required to attend this free Zoom webinar on Wednesday, May 13 at 7 p.m. ET.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Kate Woodsome is a civic resilience architect whose organization, The Invisible Threads Lab, helps people and institutions understand and work with the nervous system to transform stress-driven patterns into trust, better decisions, and human-centered systems that don’t break under pressure.

Kate began examining the connections between mental health and democracy as a journalist and newsroom leader covering global rupture and repair from Cuba to Cambodia, Hong Kong to D.C. Over 23 years, she reported and led teams at the Voice of America, Al Jazeera English, and The Washington Post. While with The Post, she was part of the Pulitzer Prize-winning team that covered the Jan. 6 Capitol attack. That experience left her with PTSD and moral injury, inspiring her to examine the role the media, politics, and economics play in individual and collective wellbeing.

Now, as a certified Resilience Toolkit facilitator and Georgetown Psychology Department scholar, she helps journalists, leaders, and changemakers pursue inner transformation and outer systems change. Follow Invisible Threads’ newsletter to uncover the connections between mental health and democracy.
