Thank you for supporting JAWS. We are grateful for the sponsors and partners who make this work possible.
As an organization of journalists, JAWS of course follows appropriate ethical guidelines. We deeply value sponsors and seek sponsor input, but sponsorship does not influence news coverage by JAWS or JAWS’ individual members, or determine the content of programming decisions that are made by JAWS based on participants’ needs.
The JAWS Board of Directors approved the following policy in 2012:
1. JAWS accepts corporate and commercial sponsors, just as we accept foundation and academic institution sponsors to support our programming, which may include panels, speakers, training sessions and other parts of our annual Conference and Mentoring Project, our fellowship program or other endeavors. We also accept advertising in our printed and online materials, such as our CAMP program and our website.
2. We appreciate support from entities whose values are consistent with ours and who support our mission: JAWS supports the professional empowerment and personal growth of women in journalism and works toward a more accurate portrayal of the whole society.
3. Sponsorship does not in any way imply an endorsement of the sponsor or their products.
4. Sponsorship does not influence the content of our programming.
