CAMP 2024 Location Announcement

Over the past several months, the JAWS CAMP site selection committee proposed a list of five cities, whittled it down to two and visited six venues. Based on the committee’s recommendation, the JAWS board is thrilled to share the final decision:

The 2024 Conference & Mentoring Project (CAMP) will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana! ⚜️

Mark your calendar now to join us for CAMP September 13-15, 2024 at the Kimpton Hotel Fontenot, a centrally located, historically rich and beautiful venue.

This decision took into account member feedback from last year’s event in Chicago, the balance between urban accessibility and a “getting-away-from-it-all” vibe with access to some nature and outdoor beauty, cost and the local journalism scene.

The JAWS board and staff are now gearing up for next steps, including:

  • Launching super-saver early registration

  • Opening the JAWS block of rooms at the venue

  • Naming CAMP co-chairs

  • Building out programming, events and other CAMP activities

  • Enlisting local journalists and students in New Orleans to join us

An information page will go live on the JAWS website in the next two weeks, and registration and details will take place in the myJAWS community. Be watching for much more information to come.

A very special thank you to the site selection committee for its work over the last few months. Chaired by Bonnie Rollins, the committee is made up of members Lisa Chung, Gwyneth Doland, Tanya Gazdik and Xiomara Martinez-White.

We can’t wait to see everyone in magical New Orleans!
