JAWS NY Event: Meet Creator Journalists Marisa Kabas and Garnet Henderson
Navigating Journalism: Meet Creator Journalists Marisa Kabas and Garnet Henderson
There's a new entrepreneurial wave in independent journalism: creator journalism. Creators are establishing small media outlets that prioritize rigorous reporting, audience trust, and sustainable business models built on paying subscribers. Join us on February 19 as JAWS NY and the New York chapter of the Association of Health Care Journalists (AHCJ) co-host a conversation with two successful creator journalists, independent reporter Marisa Kabas, founder of The Handbasket, and Garnet Henderson, a reproductive health and justice reporter who co-founded Autonomy News. They'll discuss how they've built their businesses, how to gain traction as a creator, and the evolution of the creator model. JAWS member Barbara Selvin will moderate the conversation. Come join us!
WHEN: Thursday, February 19, 7 p.m. ET
WHERE: The Judith Mara Carson Center for Visual Arts ("The Judy") at Marymount Manhattan College, 221 E. 71st Street, New York, NY
RSVP at hello@jaws.org by February 17. We welcome food and drink contributions; please bring app-style foods (or your beverage of choice) and let us know in your RSVP.
